The 1.6 Ford Sigma engine is designed to run on 95 octane in the mild state of tune in the 4/4 Sport. Mind you, supermarket 95 may not be ideal!
At risk of opening up a well vented topic, if you use 95 octane be very careful where and what you buy. There have been various threads on the topic, some suppliers have high concentration of Ethanol, and no cleaning agents, this stuff is very bad for any pre 2003 car, and if I recall correctly only suitable for 2008 on, built to use it. Earlier Morgans whist they will run on it, over time it will damage seals, rubber hoses, and can effect injectors and jets. There are a few suppliers who have low Ethanol in 95 octane.
