OK I'll own up, as some of you know as well as large V8's I also like cars with small high-revving engines and consequently, I have always fancied one of these



For those of you who don't know what it is here's the Wiki page, but there was some funny bidding and I lost it; though I am still on the lookout for one.

Whilst I also like Fast Ford's and have had quite a few in the past, including RS 1600, RS Turbo, Escort RS Turbo, RS 500 and several Sapphire and Sapphire 4x4's (yes, I did own a Ford Dealership at one time!) I do not like the photo of the Escort above as it is too chav-tastic for me. This is more to my own taste, the Ford RS1800, though personally I do prefer the original RS 1600; even though these days it is not as iconic.

Nice thread though Boshly, I'm still thinking about what I would buy within your budget

I like the Mk1 Mexico's but that wouldn't be where I'd spend my money.

If this is in the rules, I'd split it on :-
a) A tatty but thrashable 911 3.2 Carrera (drove a friends 1984 example, which had 300,000 miles on the clock, and loved it to bits - they are similar to Morgans in a lot of ways)
b) a first generation Lotus Elise with a Honda vtec conversion and a supercharger
c) If I had any money left over (or can I up the budget a bit - please ?) I'd add a 1973 Rover P5B Coupe.

OK, I am now bankrupt, but it was fun !

Lovely looking little thing Aeroman - looks like a midget but much more 'mini muscle car'...

For 20k I'd probably still also be very tempted by a Porsche 928 GTS - good ones still knocking about at this price level.

For me it would be the Lotus Exige S1... possibly save a bit more for one with a decent power engine in it.

Ahh lotus. 20k would get me in a decent V8 Esprit. Always wanted one.. Found I was just too big for it really, at least to fit in it with a helmet so it could get used on track.

Always wanted a ferrari dino GT4 / mondial T coupe. Not sure why as neither particularly the most loved of dancing donkey line, but a certain 80's greatness about them I think. When I ahve a big enough barn I'm sure a GT4 will be found. Can see it as a top fun everyday summer fun car for nipping down the shops.

And an Alvis TD / TE 21 coupe too - lovely looking things, for me has the presence of an aston, at sensible money

I also think the E30 M3 would be a good one...

I know this is another Volvo, and Im pretty sure £20k is an optomistic budget but yet again I love it

Maybe Im getting old and should buy an old 760GLE

I agree the wheels aren't quite right, I could live with the bonnet though
