When I bought my + 4 the dealer told me it would have a very bouncy front end every time I drove for the first couple of miles. After 10,000 miles it has now settled down and no longer does it. I have been greasing the front suspension with 3 squirts every 700 miles.

Greasing is explained here http://www.gomog.com/allmorgan9.html#DynamicsHigh tyre presuure wont help as the tyre deforming is part of the suspension.

Tyre pressures were 25psi. I have reduced them to 22 psi and I will try again tomorrow. I run 18 psi all round
Very much in the dog house, could be up for rehoming

That's low! Mind you, mine have to be a bit over the 22...

Hi everyone you may have seen I traded in my 2014 M3W for a plus 4 and my first impressions are not so good. The front end bounces at the slightest undulation in the road and squeaks and rattles from the from suspension. I think the M3W is a much better ride than the new plus 4. Is it just me?
Dave Wilson Logmog Congratulations on the new car Dave. I have been for a short run in an M3W and one of the things that I noted straight away was that the suspension was much more compliant than our Plus 4, and we have the Suplex kit fitted. When I first got the car, factory fitted with GAZ adjustable dampers, it took about 2,000 km to run in the kingpins and bushes. For the first 1000 km or so the steering would not even self centre after a turn. Now it is perfect. As we got the car from the factory the front end was quite rigid but it turned out that they had fitted some incorrect springs at the front and the rear springs were not up to standard. We finished up touching on nearly every speed hump and we discovered that the ground clearance under the rear gearbox cross member was less than 9 cm. All springs were changed under warranty and whilst the ride was much more compliant at the front the car suffered from more body roll in cornering. I suspect that whilst the front springs fitted under warranty gave us the correct ride height they were still not optimum. I then decided to fit the Suplex Front suspension ‘Refinement System’. The car now has a reasonably compliant front end and does not suffer from excess body roll in cornering, in fact it is excellent. Fitting the Suplex kit will help and whilst it may not suit someone who likes a really sporty ride and steering it is ideal for someone who enjoys fast touring whilst not sacrificing good handling and comfort. Our car currently has 5 leaf rear springs, which will ultimately be changed for something better, a panhard rod and the GAZ dampers (set on 3 clicks with no load and 4 clicks if touring with luggage) at the rear. At the the front the Suplex system and brake reaction rods. I think it is a limitation of the sliding pillar front end and also the extra weight of the car by comparison to the M3W that makes the difference in ride. I would say that as your front end gets a few miles it will become better, and you will become accustomed to it, but it will never be as compliant as the front end of the M3W with its double wishbone front suspension. PS. I run 25 psi all round. I thought 22 psi made the car feel a little squirmy in cornering.

Peter, do you think one can order his or hers Morgan with Suplex in front and eventually also some mods at the rear "off factory"? It seems such a waste to collect a new car, and already know to have some mods done, including throwing aways new components! Such a waste of money and material.

Ruut
It should be possible but there may be a fitting fee and the standard items cost so little I doubt there would be a rebate for those. I had my car fitted, as new, with the sports exhaust (Plus 4 SS type), Moto-Lita steering wheel, and GAZ dampers. I paid Aero Racing separately for these items but I have no idea if they were fitted during, or after construction. I don't think I paid a fitting fee but I did not receive the standard items. At one point I was told that the engine may have to be removed if the exhaust manifold had to be changed so I imagine that that was fitted during construction.
Aero Racing are now distributing the Suplex kits so it should be possible to have the Suplex spring kit fitted at the factory. I have actually been informed that they are fitted standard for some markets. Which markets they are I have no idea but I would assume that that means the distributor for some country liked them so much he wanted his cars fitted with them as standard. I also know that one person made special arrangements to have Suplex fitted to his car during construction.

Hi Ruut, the factory will fit extras at build time for a charge (as to be expected) However I guess that some countries may have regulations which means some modifications have to be installed after delivery. It is always worth asking your dealer or the factory for clarification.
I would suggest that unless you are intimately familiar with the motor that you want that a purchaser waits until they have driven their motor before going to the expense of what could be an unnecessary modification.
as an example, prior to getting my motor 3 years ago I had read that Rutherford AVO dampers were the way to go. I am pleased I did not go that route as I am more than satisfied with the standard dampers at this stage.
