Spotted you this morning Peter, turning off the A36 just outside Salisbury.
You wouldn't have noticed as we were in a white Evoke with caravan attached sitting in the queue coming into the city. Family thought I was mad, but couldn't resist a toot on the horn.
Now got a weeks worth of TM to catch up on!

Yes, I even polished the exhaust pipe ends.....as well as the other bits mentioned, and the inside of the bonet and used a detailing spray one the airbox and other plastic bits under the bonet. ....
OCD? I'm learing,.....
Oh dear, I am most disappointed in you Peter, is it irritating you that you did not clean all the exhaust pipes until they were nice a shiny, oh and took the wheels of and wiped clean the arches and then detailed them, I trust you will be doing so before the show.

I do all three Peter, every time, and inside the bonnet. Err......no Peter. You can't see those areas.

After a great drive out this morning with Caroline and a leasurly lunch out on the patio I spent the afternoon washing, drying, polishing and generally pampering Aldermog, whilst listening to TMS on the new DAB Radio.
Poor Indian Cricket Team....(look for crocadile tears). The highlights this evening should be good.
To be honest life doesn't get much better!!

I looked in to the factory a couple of years back and noticed an apprentice struggling to staple some leather around the scuttle. The conclusion reached was of something being cobbled together by hand and totally dependant on a quality controller happening to notice or not notice any flaws. The second hand 4/4 I bought privately was being sold by a gentleman who probably believed a grease gun required a gun licence. In under 7000 miles he had had to spend about £800 on the front suspension (new SS kingpin and a front brake disk). In my hands no further issues of any sort at 34,000 miles and it has not seen a mechanic at all except for its' MOTs. I would not dream of spending on a new one from the factory without an AA vehicle independant pre-delivery check. I have also read in these pages of one German buyer who got better treatment from the factory than he would have if he were a UK buyer. Is the answer to buy through a Beijing or EU dealership and import back to the UK! I would say an essential pre-requisit to ownership is an ability to tackle some basic diy maintenance or know of a dependable friendly garage that could be trusted to look after this endangered species of classic motor. I hope you cleaned the inside of the end of the exhaust pipes too! Yes, and sprayed new BBQ black on the perforated metal inside. Looked fantastic until I drove down the muddy track into the Wilton House Park.....
