I'm flummoxed Peter! I'd have guessed an ECU fault but I'm no expert. What timing....the day before your trip to Williams for service and MOT!

Good luck!

I have spoken to Peter and played with my roadster by taking of the single row connector off the back right hand side of centre instrument cluster I get the same symptoms.

More likely a wiring fault with that loom connector or instrument panel than duff ecu

I tend to agree with Milligoon, but I checked the connectors off and replaced them. So I need to check the other end of the connector.

With nothing to lose, so I'll replace the 20A and 30A fuses even though they seem to be OK.
Off to Halfords as soon as they open: I doubt it will achieve anything, but....

I'll also swap the fan relays for the ignition and fuel pump relays.

Then I'll phone Williams...

Peter, did you find and check the multi earth point? From memory a clump of black wires that go to a stud upper right hand side behind the dash....maybe your soundproofing has affected/dislodged the wiring to it?

Had a look at the 4/4 wiring diagram, as I cannot find the Roadster one.
I would check the White connector on the rear of the steering lock as the circuits that you mention as failing share that connection. Just a thought.
We are all with you to get the issue sorted.

In a similar situation I found that one cable had been squeezed under a washer and got warm enough to work as a resistor. It made a relay falter and the symptoms were very similar to yours. I guess the same could happen with a bad connector.
My thoughts are: what has changed since your car worked properly the last time? I guess yours are too wink
I wish you good luck!

Well it is in the hands of the guys at Williams now...

Of course whatever has happened must be my fault as I was the last person working on it - I removed the dashboard to get at the cable runs behind. So I got some gentle ribbing from Lawrie...! notworthy

There are a lot of not used conectors there, some taped up, others hanging free. The wires to the long thin connector on the RHS of the back of the instrumentpannel has some wires with damaged insulation where the heater temperature quadrant rubs against them....

We shall see what happened.
No doubt it will cost me money.

At least Williams can take the strain. Do they have their own electrical specialist?

Lawrie!

Peter....was the ribbon connector catching on the heater quadrant? Mine was and I've wrapped it in tape to protect it. Hope they sort out the problem quickly for you. I'm down there on Thursday hopefully so I'll look out for your car!
