Yes, Lawrie is the man: his comment was "first day back from holiday and you bring me this problem!" I said something about not wanting him to be bored.
The heater quadrant could perhaps be the root cause of the problem: all the time we had the car the heater knob would only turn on 2 clicks. After removing the dash I realised it turns about 6 clicks to the end stop. We'd always through the heater wasn't as good as many said. Clearly it wasn't turning fully on. I suspect blocked by wires...
I hope that they can sort it by the end of the week as I really don't want to be Mogless for the bank holiday weekend.....

Fingers crossed for you Peter that they ring to say it was a loose connector at a terminal block, simple to fix but a nightmare to find kind of job so it's just labour charges.

Peter, I am not sure what you mean by the heater quadrant. Perhaps you could enlighten me.

Neil Assuming you Mog has its heater controls on the dashboard, and not underneath, the silver knob turns a toothed wheel that moves a segmented metal quadrant that serves to act as a lever to pull the bowden cable that opens and closes the water valve to the heater. As you trun the silver knob it "clicks" through a number of stops, to a total of about 6. The quadrant, which is a segment of a what looks like a 3" disc, moves and it seems can rub on wires.

Thanks Peter, thats what I thought you meant. Mine moves one click and not anymore. Might have the dash off on Thursday and see if I have the same problem. Hope the Mog recovers from its electrical problems. Neil

Peter, I just put a picture of the item in the gallery.

I'll try to find the photos I took....they will be similar to Colin's but show the proximity of the flat cable!
