I never locked my any of my Mogs, even when left overnight in a public carpark in the centre of Rouen, surely better just to be robbed than have the hood slashed and robbed

I agree with this. I had an Alfa Spider once that had the roof slit to remove the radio. I dare say the roof cost way more than the radio. That translated to me never locking any soft top, Morgans included. Here in the US, nobody wants to steal the cars anyway and most radios are out of sight. Cheers,
Mark

I always thought best to lock when the motor is left unattended for insurance reasons. I am not an expert so open to persuasion.

I bought my first soft top over 50 years ago and have one pretty much ever since. I have never locked the doors on any of them. I never leave anything of value inside. Most of them I fitted a simple alarm via the door light switches ( obviously not possible in a MOG ) usually air horns. The only thing I ever lost was a pair of slip over headrests from my 1966 Midget left with the top down however many times I returned to the car/ s to find the door on the half catch where somebody had opened the door and set off the air horns, in fact I watched one "Scrote" do exactly that in Kings Cross and then " leg it" almost but not quite into my flying briefcase! I hate to think how many soft tops I have saved.

I was once parked up in London Soho one evening, in my Triumph Spitfire. When coming back to the motor I saw a couple of Chinese guys lifting the hood (Vinyl roof) rear quarter in an attempt to get in. Without thinking I ran up and kicked one of the guys in the back and luckily they ran off. Only later did I think about danger I could have put myself in.

A small piece of rubber pipe squished into the window runner also works a dream and can be adjusted to give a variety of stopping positions for cruising.
