The only reason I'd have an auto Morgan is for a space to put my left foot! That said, I was surprised driving the latest 3.7 Roadster that there is now room for my left foot between the transmission tunnel and the pedal!
I could imagine that there might be demand in some markets, such as the Chinese and Middle East ones for an auto option.

In a long chat I had with Mr. Williams about Morgan, Morgans, Lotus and Lotii, he mentioned the new markets (specifically China and the Phillipines) were demanding auto boxes with increasing pressure. He said they were a necessity for Morgan and that he was trying, so far unsuccessfully, to convince the factory of the NEED of automatic boxes for all cars (not the 3 wheeler though). I don't want and don't like auto boxes, but I won't be shocked if MMC makes them available. In fact, and hearing Mr. Williams, it seemed very reasonable that if Morgan wants to go to markets where automatic gears are overwhelmingly predominant, than it needs to have that option available.
Was a very interesting conversation overall, Mr. Williams was very kind to us while we were waiting for our M3W to be fixed and serviced.

Very odd. The sill thickness and profile looks odd, and there is a trad wing stay, the bulkhead looks very odd and high, and the column angle looks odd. Its hard to see where the gearbox would go under that flat bulkhead. A front hinged bonnet with integral cowl and no sides? Don't get too excited, it could be a new golf trolley or another LifeCar. The engine could be there to mislead.

Ledgerwood built an auto box into a new Plus 4 for a customer with MMC cooperation about four years ago. It was quite a tough job by all accounts. So there is at least one out there.

It might be easier now MMC use Mazda gearboxes....at least for the 4/4 and Plus4 as there is an auto option for the MX5 and I believe the gearbox dimensions are similar to the manual box. There will be an auto box option in the 3.7 Mustang but that could be a bit bulky for the footwell width in the Roadster.
Two out there.....well, one in the Morgan museum, Jane Morgan's Plus8 engined auto Drop Head Coupe.

The only reason I would have an auto is if I became unable to use my left leg through whatever reason. My wife can only drive autos because of her MS.

I know we have auto fans on here but it takes away the driving pleasure IMO. But a last resort for old blokes.........
