My Roadster Brooklands is coming up for sale to make room for the new car though, but the project car has the same running gear if not the same suspension. flag

The project car is manual for now, but it may be altered in the future. It is not a series production car, but a one-off and as such features the foibles and taste of one individual and thus may well divide opinion. wink No apologies yet, but don't blame MMC!

Brian, I completely agree, I think it is one of the best well balanced powerful Morgans to date, the chassis has just enough give while being no too stiff, I suspect with 17" wheels and a little loss in comfort factor it could be pushed really hard without much trouble. I love the gearbox, just so positive.

I reckon in a GT type car with a carefully chosen paddle shift auto it would be stunning. As the previous post said if a conversion housing could be machined I would think the 911 auto with paddle shift would be perfect. Although it might be worth trying a Mustang auto first as this might be just as good and Ford are pretty reliable on overall design solutions.

cheers

Adrian,

for uses a ZF autobox made under licence, but it isn't the latest 8 speed version used by BMW. But then 6 speeds should be enough in a Roadster!!

The one improvement I would make on the older 3 litre is not a higher gear etc. But to rid it of the painfully notchy selection.

How that could be done without changing the box is beyond my limited knowledge the the gearing above the hill start 1st gear are more than accommodating.

Not really fussed about an auto box myself I'll leave that to others I don't think it would suit the car myself especially the additional weight of an auto box.

One thing that really peaked my interest the other day was seeing the same engine with turbos in Noble guise pushing out 500 bhp but that'd be silly, well in my hands it would....

I always fancied a Roadster when I first read about them, as I now have one I should really get used to it before having naughty thoughts.

No chance. Arthritis in left thumb means an auto or nothing. She wont even drive such a light sensitive and superbly engineered machine as Lottie the Lotus!! Incredible I know but true all the same.
