Just seen this article in the Daily Telegraph revealing the new MX5.

I must say, I like the look of it.

Friend of mine at work has just ordered one. Made the mistake of taking his swmbo with him. He tried to order the base model but came away with the top of the range retractable hard top. Well it will be mostly her car rofl

Hmm...I'm not so convinced about the latest styling.

It's beginning to look too fussy and 'stylie agressive'.

I can understand where they are pitching it in the Jaguar/BMW wannabe image that's very of the moment, but I don't think they needed to go quite in that direction.

Still, i'm sure it will still be a great wee car to drive.

The styling is interesting, and I suppose it will grow on me. I don't like the sh#t eating grin though. I just don't like my cars to smile.

Cheers,

I'm happy to see a major manufacturer still committed making a sports car at a decent price rather than going down the usual hot hatch/saloon route.
I am sure it will be a success.
Interesting that they have a new six speed gear box, I wonder if that will ever replace the Mazda 5 speed on Morgans?

Maybe not as these gearboxes mate to the Mazda Skyactiv engines not the engine design shared with Ford that is in the MK3 MX5.

Going by that logic then Morgan would not use the MX5 gearbox in the 3 Wheeler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish them every success with this majorly restyled look - I like it and combined with the weight saving and lowering of CG this should be a nice little performer.

Well they certainly showed the Brits (MG, TVR, Lotus etc ) how to make an appealing fun acessable to all Sports car and although it's not a car for me I think this new model will take them forward in a big way IMHO.

Their global sales are already quite impressive.
