Ah the Barchetta. I considered one of those before my smart Roady cabin space was marvelously spacious unlike other considered cars like mx5 and mgtf at the time ie I fitted until the roof was put up that is where at my natural sitting position my head poked through the soft top.

The salesman tried to suggest I got around that by crouching! What for 80 miles a day?

We will have to go and see a new mx5 in the flesh as the good boss lady didn't instantly say no to the rear! Oh what fun we had trying to find another open top for her!

Now if made do as nice a green as her streetka is currently in (VW Scirroco Viper Green) then I think it'll be job done.

Still look forward to the Italian styled version though rumour is that it may no longer be an Alpha Spider it may be Fiat badged!

I thought that it was a misunderstood and underestimated car. In the home country zipping along the Amalfi coast in the right colour under the sun it was perfect. Uncomplicated, fun, nippy enough. Good value.

It is not a Spyder but I would guess a few people said the same about the Spider when it was first released. A product of its time and region.

If someone took the Fiesta ST platform and put a small two seat body on it then you could have just the same fun. However they put a box on top instead. Fashion, yuk.

I wish more entertaining stuff like that escaped the grey towers. (with a turbo and more pistons.)

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

I like the new MX 5, but the squinting headlights have to grow on me, my 2013 model looks a lot friendlier grin2

You really see the Italian design influence. I like it.

Certainly do. I like it too, particularly as the last generation was getting rather bloated and this new version is somewhat lighter. Mind you, I might be slightly biased as the former owner of a Mark1 1.8S... smile

Fully agree Graham. I have still got my Mk2 after 8 years of ownership. Used mainly for the golf club trip and general shopping etc. Always reliable, cheap to insure and run, so might consider a new one when I get too old to drive the Morgan.
