Need some help here, guys. I know some of you have induction kits on your Mogs. I'm thinking of self-fitting one to the zetec blacktop 1800cc in my 2003 4/4. Any suggestions for suitable kits?

As far as I am aware there is no specific induction kit. Keith Hofgartner describes a DIY improvement on his "LeMans 62" page here

Like many others I have fitted a K&N high flow filter in place of the standard paper filter - this helps, but the route for the air intake is poor.

Best mod for the 1800 blacktop Zetec is a decent exhaust manifold and system such as Librands - though not cheap, this totally transformed my car.

Thanks. That's a useful article. The exhaust- side upgrade is definitely on the wanted list.

I had a Zetec silver top with a Librand's exhaust
That made a big difference

A filter alone will make little or no difference to engine performance by comparison to an original paper filter. An oiled filter may give a better airflow initially but very quickly will clog with dust and tests show that airflow is actuaaly reduced by comparison to the standard paper filters or non oiled filters.

Use of oiled filters on race engines is a different story as they would be cleaned and oiled in preparation for every event.

A more open induction system is also a different issue.
