Although the CAD drawings are shown in a static position Adrian, on the computer the axle can move through its full arc and thus I think your concerns have been allowed for.
Maybe I did not explain very well, if one wheel goes fully down and the other side fully up at the same, then the axle will be at an angle to the swinging arms causing the twist/torsion on them. I know this is unlikely to happen to this extreme unless you go trialing but it will be there to an extent as one side moves up an down as opposed to the other. I hope that makes sense. I am not criticising just just trying to make a possible observation, that might be useful.

Yes, indeed SUPLEX have a test car with a thousand or so miles on it running a 5 link rear suspension with rising spring rate, tuned adjustable monotube dampers, adjustable roll stiffness - has been shown to the factory - great minds think alike, fools .... etc.

Jay & all, just the saying "Like minds think alike and fools never differ", nothing more than that, no fools involved in these projects that I can see. The rear suspension concept on SP1 and the one on my car are very very similar - hence like minds think alike! We have intentionally added roll stiffness to replace that lost by removing the roll stiffness inherent in leaf springs and we have the suspension units slightly further out but still inside the chassis members. Indeed with progressive spring rate and tuned monotube adjustable dampers the ride and handling is transformed. There is always of course a concern with the mass of the rear axle in a light car going into its own modes of vibration, but there are solutions. To those who were concerned about 'fight' in the bushes on SP1 and other such concepts, one can tune the coning rate of the bushes to build in roll stiffness. We have built in adjustable roll stiffness in another way, but no ARB of course. Our prototype system is tuned to match the SUPLEX RS up front of course, but as Brian says the handling of the RS matches that of the std setup, but then the RS progressive spring rate and monotubes gives the ride improvement - horses for courses as always. Hasn't the Ford Mustang had a solid rear axle until the new model for 2015? The Mustang has had some serious power over the years but has always managed to control the axle to some extent. Perhaps Chevvy fans would disagree! Titus
