Seeing your wheelnut spanner laying there has reminded me of an idea I have, to get a substantial tube welded to the spanner to make a workshop tool. Looking at Mulfab's website they offer such an implement which extends just beyond the radius of the rear wheel arch (approx 50cms). Has anybody already tried this? (for on road emergencies I have the usual hammer and lovely brass spanner from MWS).Gerry.

I have one from Millers, that I dont use any more as now on spinners..
£40 plus post if you fancy it.. Cost me £65.

I have one of Peter Mulberry's Gerry.
Sits under the seat.
Used once on the old 4/4 when we had a puncture. Not keen on the factory's spanner and hammer idea...

I have one of Peter Mulberry's excellent scanners but to make a smaller more easily fitted in the toolkit version I also used a 12" strip of flat iron bar, drilled it and the OE spanner and popped a couple of nuts and bolts in the 'extension' piece, when and if I need it roadside it's 30 seconds to bolt both parts together and the extra leverage and a slight kink to the OE spanner means the mallet is redundant as now I can put my foot on it to undo/do up the nut and avoid potential wing damage from the hammer. Cost nothing as it was scrap steel. About 12" of 1.5" x 1/8" flat mild steel bar.
