Yes, I'm interested to see the new MX-5 in the metal DW. Might be in budget when 5 or 6 years old! Trundling down the M5 from Droitwich on Sunday arvo (in Polo) just as we reached Jn9, what appeared to be His'n'Hers Eunos (i.e. a pair) in bright yellow joined the motorway...

Well....depreciation wise I lost the same amount on the TT over nearly 18 months as I did on my 4/4 over 2 1/2 years. I agree with Phillip, the non depreciating Morgan (well modern ones) is a myth.
The second day in of ownership of the Z4 is interesting. The M Sport suspension with 19"wheels and run flats to boot...is better than the TT ride, much to my surprise! Z4's are not to everyones taste....but whilst I'd choose a Boxster as the ideal, the cars parked outside and I'm not keen on a fabric hood in those circumstances. Perhaps I should have sold the Roadster to free up garage space? !! My days of driving fast enough to require a "true" sport car are past and the Zed does all that I need of it; it'll be my third one over the years so I guess they suit me!

It's a funny thing, the only Merc I would ever consider is the SLK, which I prefer above all the other 2 seaters mentioned above. There's something about its slightly americanised/juke box dash which I really like! The Z4 dash(and BMW dashes in general) is just not to my liking, and the Audi TT, and the Boxster are just too similar inside to 'normal' VAG cars. So should we ever get old enough to consider a soft sports, it would be between an SLK and an MX5. The new MX5 might just tip the balance away from the SLK.
But not yet....................
Post number 5997 (counting down). Dave, I agree, the new MX5 has a lot to tempt one with. But so does the GT86. In the end they are modern Computers, sorry, cars. Which is why, despite all its flaws, I like the our Morgan. It isn't a computer.

SWMBO, a previous MX5 owner, went into overdrive when she saw the new one, I must say it looks a real winner from a design perspective. I can feel an order coming on......

Taste in cars??
Mix that with my missus and there you have a huge dilemma.
For years we've been trying to source an eventual replacement for her Ford StreetKA
She loves that car so much and no other cars come close.
She almost settled on a 370Z roadster but it was slightly to big.
The main problem with any replacement car is generally that the arse is wrong! Or it's to big, Audi TT almost made it it'd need to be the coupe but with a fold down hood! Not the cab version oh and only two seats! She likes the RCZ but it'd have to have a foldable roof.
We have tried and failed on many an occasion, for her it's not about power or how it drives (harder heavier ride than the Morgan) it is definitely how the car makes here feel on walking upto it and whether she feels comfortable with it spatially.
So we also look forward to seeing the new mx5 and particularly what the Italians do with it in the guise of a Fiat or Alpha in the flesh.
Maybe the long search will then be over? Somehow I know something won't quite be right.
Me I'm easy 10 minutes in a car and I'm sort of like - oh I'll have to get me one of these in the case of my smart Roady it was 10 yards that bit me 11 years ago.
You are so lucky to be able to find another car so easy....

Mark, Caroline is the same.... She has said since we got it that nothing could replace the E350CDI Sport.... That was until she saw and sat in the XK-R... Temptation.... The car we looked at was as the front photo of the car in deep metallic red...she was gone. It is the look, the feel and the sound. I had to be quite firm, we are NOT buying a 550bhp car to take horse stuff down to the yard... Probably do 10mpg cold on the 1.1 mile run... But I know that if the lottery ticket comes up this week she will force my hand...

Should get 14mpg cold Peter! I too am smitten by the XK8 / XK / XKR Jags. Still waiting for my winning Jag Enthusiasts Club raffle ticket to be drawn However, as you say, it's a bit of overkill to transport 'horse stuff' about, not sure about towing capability!!

MrsW is exactly the same. She has a Polo Dune in yellowy green and loves it. Nothing else has come close, seven years on and I would be wasting my time even suggesting a replacement.

Peter - bit of a posh tractor that! Better to get an old estate car just for the horse!
