I am in San Sebastian Spain now and the 2007 Roadster 3.0 won't start. The ignition lights all come on, there seems to be power in the battery but the ignition is just dead when the key is turned. I reckon it could be the starter motor jammed or not thrusting.
The last time I started the car was fine then when we stopped to pay a toll I accidentally turned the ignition key while the motor was going. I did not start the car again after that now as I said it is dead.
It is late Friday night we have had to abandon the car in a public carpark, I know not good. The rescue number I have been given by the insurance company does not exist. If I find a local rescue service they will take the car away and won't look at it until Monday.
So what do I do to release the starter motor, do I try to take it off or what?

Thanks in advance
Tim

Is it Morgan Rescue you have breakdown cover through? If so, the number is:
00 44 1277 235999

If you can't fix it yourself try to get recovered to Talleres Mendauto at Pamplona.

They were brilliant when I had problems with my fuel pump.

Tim, I'm not an expert on modern electrics but is it possible that the car's immobiliser is preventing the engine starting? It's unusual for starter motors to pack in suddenly. If there's power to illuminate the headlights, there should be enough power in the battery to at least operate the starter solenoid if not turn the engine over.

Yes the immobiliser could be the culprit, is there anything I can do to check it or re set it.

Is the immobiliser light flashing?
Can you hear the fuel pump priming when you turn the ignition to position 1?
Does the immobiliser light stay on or go off at this stage?

If worst case - the V6 starter is Jaguar/Mondeo ST220 so should be reasonably easy to locate.

I had a very similar experience with same symptoms. AA breakdown man diagnosed that the starter motor was to blame but back at the Dealers it turned out to be only the relay switch had failed.

Hopefully your Morgan will be sorted quickly and you can get back to enjoying your trip.

Just incase it's the Starter motor that has jammed, tap hit it when some one is turning the ignition to start the car as normal. if you cannot reach use a broomstick or something!
Its the old way to get some more out of the starter motor!

Does it push or tow start?
Kind regards

Yes I think I did hear the fuel pump priming when the key was turned
The immobiliser light is flashing normally before I turn the ignition key then when I turn the key it flashes faster.

I am wondering if it the ignition cut out switch, the one that isolates everything in an accident, I understand they can just activate. It's worth giving it a press.
