The long door cars also had the taller (four seater size) windscreen which is very useful if you are tall.

Up to a point Bob then they introduced the factory easy-up hood that had a common windscreen which is somewhere around half way between the old 2 and 4 seater. I noticed this in 2008 when I bought a new 4 seater with a screen lower than I had on my +8 which had a 4 seat screen....at least that's what Mark Leddington had to say about it.

Colin,
That's interesting. I struggled with visibility in my old two seater, not so much straight ahead but the problem arose with the hood up and my eye line was above the solid part of the side screens. Things are better with the easy up hood on the newer car but I had not realised that this was different in height to the old four seater screen. I guess my solution would be an older two seat car with a four seater screen which was an option I believe.

Could be Bob, at 6' 2" I also dropped the seat by removing the wood runners, required some modification on the 2 seater and a lot of modification on the 08 4 seater, I had to cut the plastic front spring shackle cover a lot but the leather simply recovered it so a fiddle but not a big job. I think I had the same problem, when I was at the stage of ordering a new car in 02 I came across a pre built but unregistered +8, I had the screen swapped for a 4 seater and a Simmonds hood as part of the deal, made a big difference. When I got the 08 car (I have a different one now of the same age) I was concerned that the top of the screen being a little lower would be an issue but luckily its just (and only just) above my eye line but I do know of what you type. I have my seat angled far back so that drops my head height a little but on long hood down runs I often sit a little more upright to help my back. When I bought my first Morgan a wise and knowledgeable owner said you will chase the odd inch here and there and then you will go after the half inches.....he was right!

I'm the same height as you Colin and in my 95 Plus 8 (now sold) I took off the drivers seat runners and bolted the seat directly to the floor board. This did the trick regarding vision but of course there was no ability to slide the seat forward which was a problem when someone else needed to drive the car. I did also look into getting smaller seats but there is very limited width to accommodate racing type seats, could be a fix though if the right seat could be found.
Bob.

And of course, it's easier to get in and out of the long door car! wink

John I found it actually the opposite. Not sure why but the long door is for me not so easy. SWMBO says the opposite

What about a no-door option? It would be simpler and cheaper to build as well as more rigid.
