The death is announced of Manitas de Plata who has died in the south of France at the age of 93.Probably the worlds greatest flamenco guitarist.

Saw him & his family in concert at the Liverpool Phil many years ago - he held the large auditorium spellbound. He had 2 guitars - one painted by picasso & the other by Dali - I wonder if they are now in an art gallery?
He was brilliant.
But lives on in a short scene in the film "Caravan to Vaccares"

He was certainly one of the greatest traditional Flamenco Guitar Players. Unfortunately we also have to bewail the too early demise of Paco de Lucia in spring this year, the moderniser of Flamenco style music.
