Following my recent posts on clocks for a morgan, and the most helpful ideas and advice on the types available, I i am now of the opinion that I may go for a smiths electric clock to match the other dials and have the benefit of illumination that other types do not have.
Has anyone any experience of fitting one and how to do the wiring, or is it something that may require a dealer to do.any advice would be appreciated.regards

It's pretty easy, just pick up a permanent live feed ( or your clock will stop and start!) and an earth. You'll also need to take a feed from the nearest gauge bulb holder, easiest way is a double lucar connector and run that to your clock lamp.
Probably quicker to do that the time it takes to run it to your dealer.

Dear dishy, is´s even far more easy than that: the wiring is already present on your car: right hand side behind the dashboard, where the factory uses to fit the Smiths-clock

The clock will draw a small current continuously, so there is a greater likelihood of running your battery down to flat if the car is left unused for a significant time. Might be a good time to invest in a battery conditioner/charger such as a CTEK.

Thanks for the ideas folks. Interesting about the wiring being behind the dash. Brilliant info. I hope they still install it in the wiring loom on newer models? Iwill have a look. it would certainly make things a lot easier. I already have a battery conditioner so the power drain from a clock will not be a problem.good advice though .thanks

Yes I agree Jay, having just replaced a dash I can tell you the clock hole has to be spot on, the 'lip' is a gnats what's it thick!
