I have named my Roadster Bart as in the song by Tom Petty Into the great wide open. "and there was a Roadie named Bart" and Bart seems to suit as its a masculine car IMHO

I thought he also called it Festering Lentils...???

swmbo wanted to call the 90 Bluebell. A Land Rover, "Bluebell", I ask you... So in the end I said OK "Blue Belle", still blinking daft, but shortened it's Bluey - suitable sometimes... grin2

Neither of the previous Mogs had names, and this one doesn't really either... Maybe I can find a stylised 'Q' like that used on Fred Quimby's signature at the end of Tom & Jerry cartoons... smile

Mine is simply The Morgan. It needs no other nomenclature. The other rolling chassis project is The Drophead. Unimaginative? Perhaps but that's the way it's been since 1981!

Most of the time we just refer to our Plus 8 as The Morgan, but occasionally it's Marilyn, after Marilyn Monroe, great curves and loads of oomph😉

My red 1986 Plus 8 is 'Betty'. It was named 'Ugly Betty' when I first got it as the paint had bumps and lumps and god knows what else. The interior was the very light stone color and it seemed that it had not been cleaned for nearly 30 years. Simply atrocious. It was so bad I was embarrassed. I had it painted and retrimmed, so I dropped the 'Ugly.'

Cheers,

Mark

Morgans have such heightened and individual personalities it is very hard not give them a name

As a designer I believe all objects have 'souls' and we attribute human qualities to objects and things that display personality and no object has more personality than a Morgan of any type or year

I initially refrained from doing it when I first got mine as I thought it silly but very quickly succumbed within only a few weeks

Mine's called Rio

Why Rio ?

Jean Paul Belmondo (Morgan Owner) was in a film called (in English) 'Our Man In Rio' in the 60's which featured a Rosso Red 4 Seater

Also when I could no longer prevent the urge to name the car any longer, it was earlier this year at the very start of the World Cup in Rio

it is strange in that I also didn't like Morgans being abbreviated to 'Mogs' or 'Mog'
As it reminded me of my Grandmas term of inderment to her trusty Morris Minor
But now I refer to 'Rio the Mog' all the time

It's a funny old world but can be a good one

I was once (a long time ago) involved with a 1936 Morris 8. It was called Mrs Frequently, because the engine did .........
