Hello Friends,
Well, It seems I joined back in May but had not yet posted anything. I just uploaded three pictures.

My car is a 1960 four seater that I purchased about 37 years after meeting Bill Fink. In 1987 my wife and I visited the factory where I purchased a Morgan script name trim, and considered it the first piece of an eventual kit. I now have the complete car(!)

The purchase came with a luggage rack - silver, not chrome. Can anyone describe or point me to pictures of how this is mounted on a four seater? The pictures I find on the web do not give the detail of the attachment of the two vertical pieces.

Mine is an 88 four seater, but i think there is not a lot of difference. The black Beauty next to mine is a 76 model

If you mean the two verticals shown in these photos, then they are bolted to the bracket that holds the bumper on. I will see if I can get a better photo tonight.

This is my '69 4/4 Four Seater. The rack came from the factory mounted this way.

There are t-pieces bolted through the rear panel at the top to which the horizontal rack is attached. The "vertical" support bolt to the bumper brackets.

What you mean there are other sorts of Morgans?

I don't host photos on the web so (I think I am correct in saying) I can't post them here. However, if you PM me with your email address I can send you some close-ups of the fitting points which may help.

I have heard and have actually seen a more basic stripped out Morgan, that instead of having the full compliment of 4 seats only have 2 !

As someone who has a perennial problem with this, it's interesting to see the different positions owners have used for their rear registration plates.

I notice in Allen's picture that although his plate is hung from the top of the luggage rack the number plate light is still in its standard position below the bumper. The plate in Richard's picture is above the bumper but similarly not illuminated. Neither would get through a British M.O.T.

In order to meet the test requirements of visibility, I annually remove my back registration plate and remount it on a bracket that lowers it by a few inches. Digimap's appears to be in this position but I find in general use it has a high risk of grounding, particularly when reversing off of my sloping drive.

I have yet to work out why this is a problem specific to that era of 4-seaters.
