My thoughts exactly. A chacun son goût, but personally I love the Sigma engine and the need to rev it hard and to stir the gearbox.

I would be interested to see what the real difference in weight is between a curent 4/4 and a plus 4. Morgan make great play of the low weight of the 4/4 and the relative performance and in the current handbook Morgan claim 795kg for the 4/4 and 877 kg for the plus 4. In the same handbook the weight 'complete with tools and petrol' is 1000 kg for both cars. With a similar sized fuel tank that's a lot of tools !
Morgan's web site is of course different but then they also claim the cars are well built and after my recent experience have difficulty in taking anything that is published as being anything but wishful thinking.
Still love the car, and my 4/4's before that, but when comparing weight, performance, etc we need to base it on our own experiences and the facts rather than what Morgan's fevered imagination would want us to believe.

Wheight of a 2005 PLUS 4.

In France during the brake test of the MOT (Contrôle technique),
the car is weighted, front and rear in order to determine the force to apply on the rollers to check the brake.

With the test driver (60 kg), a small man, in the car, read on the test report:

front 388 kg
rear 496 kg
total 884 kg including driver
824 kg without driver (deduced)

(read on the test report)

I don't remember the fuel level in the tank.

A photo of a brake test device :
http://www.controle-technique69.com/controle-technique-venissieux
this is a 2 step test: front first, and rear.

Comments made by the driver of the video "Omex Morgan Plus 4 at Llandow Circuit" : "Ridculously overgeared for this circuit, only uses second and and third gears,"

My only concern : there is enough power for road, but overgeared as said. I don't know what gear ratios are used in race cars.

It is like for bicycle, to climb the mont Ventoux you must have strong legs or the right bracket. Right bracket is easier. But if you have the both, it is great!

I guess there is a problem with the gear ratio. On 5th gear what is the rpm at 60 mph on the new PLUS 4?

CBY You may be right: 60mph on mine is 2000 rpm in fifth, 80mph = 3000rpm in the same gear.

How about Morgan offering a choice of power when spec being done for a car?
I remember buying a Focus several years ago and there were 2 power output options.
Standard engines tend to have a " compromise" map to suit different conditions, leaving scope for some remapping and stay within limits of the engine.
The focus offered 90 or 110 bhp versions and probably identical engines( I can't confirm that but feel it's likely).
A remap could allow the engine to have increased power/ torque characteristics and stay within safe limits.
We are not talking racing performance here, just tuning to release the engine's capabilities.
Tornado chips are available for Gems Plus 8's and are reputedly a case of remove old chip and replace with Tornado. I think there follows a short " learning period" for the system to update.

Just to add..... limited editions have been offered, e.g. Plus4 Supersports.
They come with "extras" but why not just a remap offer on a basic car?

When all is said and done there are only two ways to get significantly more torque at low revs: forced induction (supercharging or turbocharging) or increased engine capacity.

All the exhaust systems, "sports" airfilters, and throttle bodies will help but they won't make all that much difference. In some cases a good cam will make a lot of difference but if the engine already has a good cam, which the 2L Duratec does, a sports cam will probably only effect the top end.
