The third was VAD 648H, Vauxhall Cresta, 3.3. For the first 5 months it couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding (or itself up steep hills). Dad was very disappointed with it as the Sceptre with its 1725, twin choke carb and overdrive box was much quicker. Then the garage finally found the timing was retarded - went well after that!
He followed it with a Granade 3.0 Estate - RDD 918M and then a series of Volvo 240 Estates, the first being FGT 449T. I lost track after that. I think the only one still on with DVLA is the Sceptre.
My first LR was a '66 SIIa 88" HT - HNX 163D - still going, but not with original body (it now has a SIII body).

One of the quiqest cars on the market in its day for standard vehicle, its early MK1 sister was even faster, easly out performing Rover V8s and the likes, The Hillman/Humber range were far to heavy. i used to love the American straight multicoloured speedo and how it changed colour as the speed increased.

You guys amaze me. Such memories. Mind you, it's only the sort of level of motoring devotion I should have expected from Morgan owners.

For me cars are and always have been part of my life...
These are the cars I have known, in some cases loved, in others would prefer to forget.

Dad’s cars from about 1960 to 2000 when he died.
Citroen Light 15……Maroon, RCD 681
Ford Consul Mk 1, green
Ford Zodiac Mk 2…..Grey and pink! Passed my test on this!
Fiat 124 ST, Green...bonkers, but fun
Jaguar S Type 3.4, dark blue...wish we still had it!
Triumph 2000, Strange yellow
Triumph 2.5 PI, Mud Brown....nice.
Alfa Romeo Guiletta 1979, White……CVX 111X
Peugot 309 GTI, White……what was he thinking? Hideous and tediious
Mercedes 190, Grey,
Mercedes 190 2.6…1991 model in black H34 SHO, his last car, I took it over. A real gem, we had it from 1995 to 2012.

My Cars from 1970 to date: (excludes “Company Cars”)
Ford Prefect 107E…1959, Green
Ford Prefect 107E…1961, two tone blue
Ford Cortina 3 door Wjite with Lotus Green stripe
Hillman Hunter...white, worthy but dull.
Hillman Imp…1966, Metallic blue
Hillman Imp…1975, Metallic green
Alfa Sud ti 1.2…sort of golden yellow: rusted away!
Alfa Sud ti 1.4: Red
Alfa Sud ti Hatch 1.5 ….1980, Red, the first new car we ever bought.
Alfa 33 1.7 Green Cloverleaf, white….bought new in 1986 and sold in 1996 after 100,000 fault/rust free miles…
Alfa 156 2.0L Metallic blue, bought new in 1999: great sporting saloon
Mercedes 190 2.6, black inhered from Dad.
Audi TT Quattro Mk 1, Silver of course
Mercedes CLK 350, sandy silver
Mercedes E350 AMG Coupe, Red bought new in 2011 and will remain, great car!
Mercedes SLK 280...silvery green seemed a good idea at the time.
Range Rover Evoke 2.0, metallic black…..what was I thinking of?
BMW 320i Touring X Drive Metallic black bought new in 2013, not exciting but terribly “worthy”
Morgan Roadster, 2009, Zurallic Blue
Morgan Plus 8, 2014, Rolls Royce Metallic Bronze...priceless.

How much have I spent over the years? best not to think about it!

No longer driving Tarka, the 2014 Plus 8...

My father did a runner with the Hillman Minx in 1956. So I had little contact with cars until my Ford Anglia came along in 1970.

I think that's why I was much more interested in WW2 aviation.

I did have occasional contact with cars belonging to relatives and mates fathers.
Nothing too spectacular though apart from the Lagonda Rapide.
Vauxhall Velox
Morris 1000
Ford Pop sidevalve
Wolseley 1500
Viva HB
FIAT 850 Coupe
Viva HC
Austin A40
A35 Van
Hillman Super Minx

So it's hard to see where my fascination with cars comes from - presumably from my paternal grandfather, rider of a big British single pot bike, and engine driver in the days of steam.

Ah....the Fiat 850 Coupe love I had one for three years in the mid 70s until it was written off by a drunken driver pulling out. I loved it.

My dad's choice of cars was pretty mundane and I remember a couple of Austin Cambridges, and a Hillman Minxand a Humber Super Snipe. However when I was very young he had a Riley RME and then not long before he died he had a brand new Reliant Scimitar GT SE4 powered by a straight 6 Ford Zephyr engine. Remember driving stupidly fast along the A12.

Andy.
