Hi to all in passion for MOG
I am new for that forum but proud owner of 2003 4/4 for a last three years.
the reason for that post is to ask YOU, my more experienced colleagues , what type of wheels can be fitted on my car preferably steel for winter tiers with studds.
It has to be 15 as using smaller will not give me enough clearance .
I was offered by a dealer a set for nearly 2000 and as I will use them for a maximum of two weekends is a bit to much.
The reason for such a question is that I was invited to do some racing on a frozen lake as I use to do it in my youth.
I dont wont to damage my wires thats why want to use steel.
Will I need any adaptor???

why not just buy a set of painted wires ( x4) and have winter tyres fitted.
Keep your best chrome/ stainless wires for summer useage.
Plenty of E bay and dealers doing great deals on basic wires.
OR
you can buy a set of second hand (even if its one at a time) and have a powder coat refurb ?
Just an idea
center lock solid steel wheels will be EXPENSIVE as you say 2000 a set !

Quite right.....there is no easy or cheap option for replacing wires with steel or indeed alloy wheels. A second hand set of wires is the way to go.

Quite right.....there is no easy or cheap option for replacing wires with steel or indeed alloy wheels. A second hand set of wires is the way to go. I'd be very careful doing this. If the splines on a second hand wheel are knackered then the wheel will knacker the wheel hub.

Thank you for warning will watch that IF by end of January will find s/h wire rims.
In a worst case scenario as a car will travel on a trailer will take a risk and fit winter tiers on my wires any way thing is sponsored by Continental so they might know what they do.

you will also need a set of wing liners to prevent studs that fly out from causing starring to the wings. :santarudy:
