Having just read the 3 year review of the M3W in MOG magazine it paints a very rosy picture of the car. I suppose they have to do this so as not to fall out with MMC.
What it will do is cause another number of ususpecting customers to part with large amounts of money and hopefully purchase an M3W, only to feel that they have been ultimately let down by the company for not fully developing it.

There is not a single mention of:-
a) Water getting in the boot.
b) Dis-integrating compensators.
c) Bump steer issues.
d) Engine failures.
e) Exhaust pipe breakages.
f) Rectifier failures.
g) Premature timing belt failures.
h) Cracking chassis.
i) Premature wear of rear drive pulley.
j) Excessively noisy bevel boxes.

In any normal car, just one of the above problems would be enough to make the new owner very unhappy, but I gues it is the sheer fun to be got out of driving the M3W that makes us hang onto them despite the above issues.

I know we existing owners (particularly of the early production models) do not want too much bad publicity of our cars in order to prevent the resale price from falling through the floor. There are some owners who have said we should not consider the resale price but having bought mine with a lump sum from a pension, I am obviously concerned about how much I will get for the car when I eventaully have to sell it.

In view of the above, I feel that MMC have been somewhat less than fair to us existing owners.
Having said that, there is no way I would part with mine despite the fact that I have had many of the above problems, which, thanks to Williams Automobiles and MMC have been resolved to my satisfaction.

Not too mention an engine blow up after less than 1000 miles, one of our antipodean friends experienced such bad luck.
But apparently s & s were brilliant, and shipped a brand new engine to Aus.

But is that a reason to take advantage of us early adopters? I have now traded my perectly good car in, because of the ongoing feeling that every journey I took it on, it may have broken down, and fairly seriously broken down at that, not something that could be fixed at the roadside. Whilst I appreciate that Morgan may repair cars, even after the warranty has expired, it would be nice if they faced up to their responsibilities in a business like manner.

Sadly, it seems that Mog Mag is an ar5e licking, toothless publication working hand in hand with the factory and will not criticise, even when that criticism is valid. I seem to remember that one of their writers' introduced himself on TM, and that was the last we heard of him? I wonder if they bother to dip into our forums from time to time?

I can fully understand why you got rid of your M3W Paul, because the constant worry of whether you will get to your destination or be brought home on the back of a recovery truck, does tend to detract from the pleasure of ownership.

These guys were on the same tour I was on when I went to see my car in production. In fact the Brooklands in the photos was next to mine on the assembly line. I did mention to the guy some of the problems we have had but I didn't expect them to include any in the article. They don't want to bite the hand that feeds them.

I assumed MOG was a factory publication! If it's not then it's terribly written.

"MOG Magazine is the only publication in the world that is officially endorsed by the Morgan Motor Company in Malvern"

Taken off Morgan website mentioning the launch of MOG. Not sure how deep the partnership goes financially (if at all). At the same time, its not surprising that journalists specifically for MOG and in general for motoring magazines are careful with their words lest they not be brought back or lose previously enjoyed access.

You dont bite the hands that feed as they say

In which case they have to expect some flak if they don't publish all the facts.

To be fair to MMC, the probability of a customer buying a new M3W suffering in the way the "early adopters" have is much reduced.

It is hard to work out what MogMag's business plan is and what the magazine is intended to achieve. It reminds me of the magazine that BMW sends out evert 4 months to owners, yet that is free and cannot be bought.

MogMag is paid for, I've seen it in WHS at major airports and stations. So it is clearly not part of the MMC marketing/A&P budget. Even so MMC and MogMag do seem to have a somewhat "comfortable" relationship.

But I'm certain there is no formal link as the quality and sophistication of the MogMag images and marketing "spin" are far better than anything that comes directly out of MMC!

Everyone buying a new Morgan gets MogMag sent to them free of charge by the factory, and I've been getting mine for 2 years now... I wonder how many actually are bought?

I did buy 'back copies' from the shop in Malvern Link so Morgan is clearly buying up unsold stock too.

All sounds rather closely connected to me...
