Lopsed sorry weve gone off subject a bit here,in future a phone call to uncle melvin might be a good idea cos prices in Norway are a bit bonkers, all adresses for dealers are in the monthly comic or use the forum first. The fishings good in norway though.

the answer was to buy the complete kit from one supplier that way the king pins would be already reamed and fitted.

Although these do seem to be the right parts according to the morgan catelog they have to be sent off to the university for machine tooling at 200 GBP per hour as there not quite right and the king pin cant be fitted as holes are missing.

The actually work will be a few hundred pounds, im almost crying at the expense its looking like almost 2000GBP for the entire fix. Im wondering if i would have a similar bill in england or if it would be much cheaper. At some point im guessing it would be cheaper to just ship the car to a garadge in england and have them fix it. The prices here just seem absurd.

No way would I pay that money or even half of it. Given the volumes that Morgan sell, its highly unlikely that these items are proprietary. Maybe I am wrong but mu suspicion would be that they are pattern spares for a volume car and available far cheaper outside the Morgan dealer network.

Have you had a look at the old items? Have you tried inputting the stamped on part numbers into Google?

You are completely incorrect Howard. It would probably help if you posted on here as an actual Morgan owner.

Morgan do use bought in parts such as brakes etc where it's bonkers not to.
However, there are so many unique parts that are made in- house that are part of the originality of design that it would be uneconomic for anyone to try making copies of. There are specialists who have developed parts - Heart of England/ Librands/Mulfab etc who offer enhancements or alternatives but there are many parts only available from Morgan. Their machine shop is full of them!
Where bought in parts are used then it is possible to source elsewhere e.g. Ford engine parts, Rover engine parts. Electrical parts can also be outsourced once they are properly identified.
Where you actually go depends on you. Do you want every invoice to show Morgan on it?
See my post earlier re German dealer and customers paying over the odds for tyres but getting the dealers name on the invoice!
Contacting a dealer can often be the best option with Morgan as they will have the ability to ID the parts needed properly or source alternatives if appropriate.
Mainstream cars are more likely to have companies make pattern parts as the market for them will be big enough to justify, unlike the small volume uniqueness of Morgan. Who would try to copy Morgan hubs? Ash frames? There simply isn't the market.
I'm glad I don't have a Ferrari/ Lamborghini/Pagani/Bugatti!
Now there's some scope to empty the bank account!

1. Post this in the maintenance and servicing ?
2. Dave.W must have an answer /explanation for this happening ?
3. Your version of the mot would have spotted a problem before it happened.
5. regular yearly servicing would have found the problem ?

I'm sorry to hear about your worries - you have my sympathy. I know a little about your custom fees and that might be one part of the problem.
