I must admit to having spent a good deal of time searching for something better. I have even looked at the rear wiper blades of some small cars. I can't find anything that uses blades as short as those used on a Morgan.

I wnder if it is possible to "re-fill" the blade holder with better quality Bosche blades, by cutting down blades that are longer?

All our cars, including the Plus 8, park with the wipers on the left, viewed from inside the car. This means that the Right Hand wiper is almost vertical and parellel with the screen pillar at the end of its stroke.

On older cars I've looked at in Tesco's car park it does seem that some are like the new cars, but others are like the older Morgans where the wipers park on the right and there is an unswept triangle on the upper right corner of the screen.

The UK Construction and Use regulations state: "The windscreen wiper system shall have at least two sweep frequency settings. The windscreen wiper field shall cover at least 98 % of the vision area"

The Vision Area is defined as "a vertical area 290mm wide, centred on the steering wheel and contained within the swept area of the windscreen and Zone B which is the remainder of the swept area of the windscreen."

A vertical area 290mm wide is less than a foot...it doesn't mention how tall this zone has to be.

So it seems that either left or right park will comply, but it may be the "sweep close to the pillar" as on modern cars may be a recent development, possibly designed to minimise blind spots on the right of the screen.

I have a suspicion that the blades on my car (that will take a standard rubber refill cut down to size) are actually from the headlamp wash-wipe of an early-80s Volvo 245 - IIRC this was one of my earliest contributions to Morganeering when the inadequacy of the OE wiper blades was first remarked on by my father, and we happened to have said Volvo parked next to the Mog in the driveway. A bodge was required for the attachment to the arm, but it has stood the test of time.
