Argh David....it must be the season! I slipped and broke tib and fib just above the ankle on a walk out on Sunday with the dog. Ended up being helicoptered to hospital. Told I'll be lucky to drive by 4 months!

It's been unseasonably mild here - a green Christmas with temperatures well over the positive side of zero. On the basis that it has rained since the roads were last salted, and been above freezing ever since, I took #1 daughter to her riding lesson in the Morgan on Sunday morning. OK, so it was a little fresh, about +2 or so at 8.30am, but with the sidescreens on and the heater doing its thing merrily, we took the scenic route to ensure we had time to warm up properly on the way Preparing for battle was a bit more time-consuming than usual. I'd assumed the Morgan would be away for its long winter sleep, so had done my usual mild winterization (mainly overpressuring the tyres, glugging a bit of fuel preservative in the tank, then doing a thorough lubrication service and checking other fluids). The tonneau cover was a bit stiff with the cold, so it came into the house for an hour or so on Saturday evening to warm up before folding into two-up formation on the sitting room floor. We did get some very peculiar looks, though. People don't tend to drive top-down in late December in Ontario. But then there's the occasional eccentric expat Brit to set the world to rights... and raise a smile or two - of sympathy for my poor long-suffering daughter with her loony parent, perhaps, but smiles nonetheless.

Told I'll be lucky to drive by 4 months! So sorry to hear that, Jays. How horrible. I did something very similar a couple of years ago, thankfully just far enough up the leg that it could be fixed with an intramedullary nail rather than a plastercast, so I was back driving (albeit in a borrowed car with an auto box) in less than 4 weeks, rather than 4 months. It still makes getting through airports interesting, though! You have my greatest sympathy, and best wishes for the long, tedious and painful course of physio rehab that will inevitably follow PS on edit: If yours is nailed rather than externally fixed, I can strongly advise not googling the procedure, at least not clicking on the video links that result. Fascinating, in a dispassionate mechanical-engineering kind of way, but a seriously brutal surgical procedure!

Woodstock to Chipping Norton for fuel then on to Shipton Under Wychwood, Moreton in Marsh, Shipston on Stour, Burford and back home. Great run with little traffic but the roads were a bit slippy and the car is now filthy.

Told I'll be lucky to drive by 4 months! Really sorry to hear this John, what bad luck. Is this going to affect the possible acquisition of a + 4 ? Or just give you more time to plan the spec

... Ended up being helicoptered to hospital. Told I'll be lucky to drive by 4 months! As a favour to a dear friend, I am prepared to pop over the county border and pick up Nero to give him a few work outs to Bristol and back. Further, I am able to offer this service, at no cost to you for at least the next 4 months, provided you are able to put a roof over Henrietta's bonnet. Oh, and get well of course. Will the Pickersleigh crew be able to provide motorised transport for your guided tours...? Cheers
