Over the Christmas period I received a S/S ‘Windscreen Bracket Set’ WIN 212 from John at Heart of England and plan to install them next week. Has anybody replaced them or the electric windscreen? Seems straightforward but any tips would be appreciated.

I've done the brackets but not with a heated screen.
Give the age of your car you should not have to re-drill the mounting holes on the bodywork. One area to watch is the the upright bolts - these can strip the thread easily in the originals (doubt so on the SS ones).
I recall reading on here the screen connects behind the padding.
I'd diconnect the screen but this may (will?) mean taking the dash out. If you have two people I'd just switch them in situ and not remove the screen (just have somebody hold it).
Do you have new gaskets for the brackets or do you plan on reusing?
THE BIGGEST WATCH POINT IS THE THREE SCREWS IN THE UPRIGHTS. One is longer than the other two - NOTE WHICH HOLE IT COMES OUT OF AND ONLY PUT IT BACK IN THAT ONE. Or you WILL crack the screen....

There's no need to disconnect the screen if you are careful. The wires pass under the padding and there are a pair of bullet connectors which you need to drop the dash to get to. You may need to gently pull out a bit of wire to allow the screen to be dropped forward onto the bonnet, with suitable protection of course! If you are not replacing the stainless uprights, leave those attached to the screen.

I may have to do this at some stage because I don't think that my Roadster screen demists, even though the dash light comes on. I tried it during the cold weather - breathe all over and switch on. Nothing happened. Mr Bumble has a very patchy heating element. Using the same test there's a large patch from the centre-line of the steering wheel to the offside which doesn't clear at all. The rest is reasonable but not uniform. This was a big problem in Scotland last year in the wet. The demist may be required by law but it's not very good if my experience is anything to go by.

Never had a problem with the electric screen on my +4, but I'm afraid I prefer the blow warm air over it solution... Particularly with a fuel powered pre-heater!!

Richard, jay,
thanks for the input. Richard the new brackets come with rubber gaskets.
John mentioned replacing the screws in the correct order, would hate to crack the screen!
Any problems will be posted on this forum.

I think it all has been said though the screws may also be difficult to remove so penetrating oil the day before might be a good idea.
