X-Wedge engine could V4 with flywheel end of the crankshaft would be better cyclically, the damper clutch disk would be sufficient, mounted with no electronic throttle cable as polaris sling (rpm rocket) that has apparently ECU problems I would not want to end up like a pebble in a slingshot.

Thanks Matty, will check the retainer bolt before I venture out. Do you have any sign of water ingress with the cooling kit installed?

Interestingly none whatsoever and I have been washing the old girl an awful lot also. It all gets so warm I think any water evaporates. No sign of any dirt either

The very modern Guzzi engines are fantastic. But they have a massive cam cover running right up the front of the engine.you cannot see this on the bike ...but in a MOG it would be on display and IMHO would not look very pleasing.

Not sure how the offset drive would work either?

What about a reverse???

Well, you have clearly put a good mileage on yours with the cambelt cooling upgrade Matty. No water or dirt ingress, using over the winter, I think you have tested it enough for us to go with the gap. I think I shall get mine all spaced out for 2015.

It is actually the belt cover for the alternator which sits between the cylinders. It could easily be replaced by a polished alloy cover (££ Option?)



Early 1200 California engines do not have this cover and the alternator is on the front of the crankshaft.

The final drive from the gearbox is offset to clear the 200/60 R 16 rear tyre.

Triking and Aero Cycle Cars use a small reversing gearbox as part of the final drive. Alternatively an electric reverse can be used.

I suspect the total package that would be required from Guzzi may be somewhat more expensive than the current engine, gearbox etc. But it would certainly vibrate less and be more reliable.

Interesting. Is there a Triking vs M3W test published anywhere? I'd like to see them compared.

I do not think there is. A bunch of us visited the Trikings "factory" last summer.
There were some interesting variants there...developed over the years. They were v interested in my M3W. Not sure a Triking would be my thing ...but they do produce a v nice kit car.
