Yes I agree too, but the Triking, in my opinion, is pretty much up there too. The only thing that lets it down is the rear end treatment. The Triking is well engineered, has stood the test of time, and the price and quality of a factory built Triking is not bad either. Much the same can be said about the Aero Cycle Cars offering too, but in that case the front end of the body would look better if it was a bit narrower.

As something quite different I really like the suggestion by BARDI1949 for the 3 wheeler inspired by the Caterham

Triking now have a revised rear!! And it detaches ...it's much better than the square boat like original.

The point is that, as a three wheeler designer you either follow the well trodden Morgan path like Triking, Bra or Aero etc or you design a completely different beast like the Blackjack or the Grinall, and the fact that anyone might only like the Morgan design doesn't mean anything else is ugly, some are, but both the Grinall and the Blackjack are very good looking machines in their own right. In fact both were on my radar before Morgan decided to make their own Three Wheeler again.

While I still adore the design of Morgan's 3Wheeler its absolutly right accepting different styles. Live would be very boring with single solutions only.

I agree, we need variety! I just don't think the Morgan needs any changes in design or engine. It Is great to have a choice out there with different trikes, engines, styles and performance. I would think one thing we all want from these cars which ever make is reliability.

Back to the Blackjack - the original Avion with a 2CV engine looks a well balanced and very attractive car, having its own chassis helped this, not being confined to a donor car chassis, I know this is down to personal taste. The later Blackjack Zero with the VW or Guzzy engine seems to have lost some of that flowing style of the original car incorporating the new engines etc. In my view to change the Morgan could have the same result. Again this is all down to taste.

What is missing today from too many normal cars and kit cars, and what the M3W has oudles of, is "character".
The S&S engine may not be the smoothest in the world or the most reliable, but it suits the character of the car.
Another beauty of the M3W is the absence of GRP and the thought that it has come out of a mould.
This "character" to which I refer is something that is almost intangible and possibly appreciated more by us "older generation" who cut our teeth on vehicles that did not have the numbness of most cars of today.
To alter the M3W in any major way (apart from improving it's reliability) would only detract from this "character".

So, a modern 4 cylinder engine is not a good idea then?

Anybody had any experience of other, possibly more reliable and powerful V twins like the new JAP? For the purpose of this question, we'll take it as read that the Guzzi is good, just wondering about any others.
