OK, There are two clear plastic pipes from the heater box, both were not connected, that was easily sorted, however that is not the leak area.
I have removed one wiper and the hole is not a very tight fit. I have applied some waxoyl and refitted, and so will see how it goes.
Thanks Mark

Okay chaps, I've just had a good chat with Steve at the factory and as always he has been very helpful. He said he believes it will be one of two things: - 1) The seal around the wiper wheel box spindles - basically where the wiper spindles poke through the body is a very tight fit. Morgan fit a seal and then waxoyl around the seal. It is worth checking whether these points are still sealed and if not, applying some waxoyl as if they have dried out, water could seap through. 2) The heater drain hose has come loose - if you lay across the seats and look toward the gearbox cover, there should be a small pipe that goes from the back of the heater through the bulkhead (by the gear box cover). The pipe should be attached to the back of the heater (the heater has a 'stub' pipe on the back of it), this allows again moisture to drain. This can come loose and could cause some water ingress; however, it was stressed that this would generally be the cause of water on the carpet, not the transmission tunnel. I hope this helps (and again, a big thank you to Steve at MMC) Simon Simon, I found on my 97 +4 only one pipe at the bottom of the heater. Clearly this lets the water out but there is no plastic pipe or indeed anywhere obvious where such a pipe should pass through the bulkhead. Is this normal? It is clearly where the water comes from in my car. Thanks John

I have checked the drain tubes from the heater and both are connected I agree with the theory that the leak on the transmission tunnel is likley to be from the wipers either through the gland or the seal on the scuttle John G4TKO

Thanks John John, I was told there should be a pipe that goes through the bulkhead, and drains out through the bottom of the car; however, this was reference the Roadster, so I'm not sure how much is transferable to your +4. My guess would be that there should be an obvious place in the bulhead (lower than the pipe on the back of the heater, so that gravity can work its magic) for a pipe to pass through. Perhaps one of the other +4 owners can advise?

Hi All, Has anyone found where the leak is?
Mine is still letting in water and I can't find the source. I have looked up, under the dash board and can see a wet area of wood (fairly central) but can not find where it is coming in still.
Any help would be appreciated.
Happy New Year, Mark

I haven't come across any drains under the dash, but my 05 Roadster has four drain stubs emerging from the heater box. I've recently fitted some clear pvc drain tubes to each of these so that I can keep an eye on what drains out.

Hi Dave,
The drains are not the problem in my case. The leak is external rain water (or when washing car) getting in somewhere high up under the dash board. The water runs down and drips onto the area next to the handbrake. I think it must be around the bulkhead/wipers/screen area where it is coming in. In heavy rain, it has shorted across some electrics and my indicators come on with no control to switch them off until the rain stops.
Regards Mark

Evening all, First of all, happy new year. I have had several case of fresh running water on my 2008 4/4. 1) Leaks past the roof/windscreen join usually by the LH drivers sunvisor screw.Tended to drip onto the indicator stalk and my leg.Flavings(Germany) gave me thicker seal for inside the roof groove. 2)Flooded drivers footwell. A badly fitted bulkhead/floorplate seal was letting it all in. Yet again Flavings came to the rescue and now I don't have wet feet. 3)Puddles on the tunnel next to the handbrake. This was being caused by a couple of bits, the drain tubesw hanging off and also the silicon seal around the base of the fan box. This has also now being sorted by Flavings. I believe Steve Morris (MMC) is aware of this as I complained to the factory and also had a chat with him at the launch of the Sport in Dortmund. I am not sure if his aware of the scale of it though, this sounds like alot of 2008 trads feeling a touchy soggy. Regards Gaz

Thanks Gaz,
I'll take a look around the fan box area. Otherwise it's back to the dealer at some point (not very local!).
