We have what is known as "Hoon Laws" in Australia, if you are caught going a certain percentage over the speed limit (I think 50% so 180 in a 110 zone), they will impound the vehicle for 28 days as a first offence.
It will cost a packet to get it out as well as the fine and loss of licence.
Tourist roads will be pretty heavily patrolled and Victoria and NSW are very heavy with their road patrols.
