Whilst writing when we going to hear the comparison between your Aero, the R8 and the Porker?

Aeroman, I slipped one past you as I gave an extensive review on my greeting and intro post, its there I promise. I have added to the stable though since that post, a super silver Nissan GTR which I was going to use as an everyday driver.My first experience with paddle shifts, and lets just say I am warming a bit to the technology.I still think I am a manual guy though as of this post...Interesting car unlike German/English/Italian/American cars, different personality altogether. Its not an Aero,more like a robot, a very fast robot.Stick with the Morgan Jeremy!

We have just got a 997 with the new PDK gearbox and I think it is a stunning bit of kit. I've driven cars with DSG (BMW's, but never a VW) and Cambiocorsa gearboxes in the past, and was never really impressed with them. OK for the track, but not for everyday use. Porsche has got it right and with a six-speed sport gearbox, a 7th gear overdrive, it is both faster and more economical than the manual.

Even the much-maligned paddles very quickly begin to make sense, maybe Walter Rohrl (he is supposed to have specced them and they are initially counter-intuitive) does know more than some of the journos, and kick-down is both instantaneous and graduated.

Added to this it is almost intuitive in anticipating your needs and it will be a retrograde step going back to the ZF automatic in the Aeromax when it comes - yesterdays technology.
