Why change a wheel, never had a flat tyre, in my S-Max no spare wheel .only a repair set and a compressor.
The wheel is only decoration

Punctures are rare, but I once had one where some debris cut the sidewall leading to instant deflation, on a dark wet winter night when it was pouring with rain and the road was flooded. Without a spare I would have been stranded, because repair gunge won't fix cuts, only small holes.

I agree every puncture I have had the gunge stuff doesn't work and to add insult the tyre companies then inisist you buy a new tyre if you used gunge.

Absolutely- not to mention the ever -incresing problem of worn and frost damaged speed bumps. The inside edges can be like razors. They just rip a long ( very long!) gash in the inner sidewall and no amount of gunge is going to help! G

The thing that will hide somewhere under everything else in the car just when you need it for a wheel change ...it could be designed to use the jack handle perhaps, or keep the tommy bar in a clip somewhere such as under the bonnet? The idea would not be to totally prevent theft, just to make it less opportunistic. This would not be a difficult task for a machinist (i.e. not me), just a threaded rod with a circular, flanged section at the top with a hole through it for a tommy bar. Could be s/s or even aluminium. Nigel

I did wonder about having a wingless wheel nut welded to the threaded shaft, but the luggage rack gets in the way if you're swinging the hammer!!!! (It wouldn't be that tight in truth.......)  This would work without a rack, but the nut would need a rechrome after welding, so it gets a bit pricey.

Nice job dave,I can see why you've done it, but in the 35 years I've been around Mogs I've never heard of a spare wheel being nicked.
