Hello guys,

Me again asking for advice. I'm considering a modified speedometer dial for my 3.7 roadster.
Can anyone recommend a manufacturer for these custom made dials? I've seen pictures of modified dials, so it has been done before.

I know that there are many companies around for this service, but I'd like to find one which has done it before for Morgans. That would save me one complete removal of the dash, only to get the dial to make a scan of the sheet. This is normally the starting point for a new design.
The cluster is from the Mustang, but there are different versions over time, so the scan is the save way to make sure to modify the right sheet.

If anyone knows the donor mustang of the cluster, that would help as well.
I remember seeing pictures of it somewhere here, but couldn't find it again. A detailed picture of the cluster could help to identify as well.

My favourite design right now is a smith design, specially made for the old GT40's. Looks classic and combines english traditional design with Ford history so relates to the engine as well. Kind of...

Thanks in advance

Not sure that replacing the dial will be that easy, I believe they are part of the CANbus and paired to the ECU on a 3.7 Roadster, which is locked down, so if you remove them the car may no longer start. I would check with a main dealer.

Hello Christian,

thanks for the Information, I will contact them.

Adrian,
All it takes is to replace these dials inside the cluster, behind the dash:

Mm there quite nice, I'm thinking of upgrading my dash, do you do know where you can get mph ins?

Ps I thought that you were thinking of replacing the instruments completely.

It looks very nice but the speedo scale is so compressed that it will be difficult to read the speed especially when trying to keep to a specific speed limit. I know from AJSki2fly's 3.7 Roadster that trying to read the speed is difficult and as a passenger, you sit right in front of the speedo. It even more difficult from the drivers seat. I would want a 300 degree scale as a minimum.

NeilM,
I agree with you, but there in nothing we can do about that. The angle of about 180° is given from the cluster. The angle can only be extended visually, but will not be used.

Mmm, I had a look and they make some very nice dials, a nice custom white dial with Morgan wings embossed could look very nice, in my planned dash upgrade. I think I may be giving them a ring to see what can be done and the cost.

thanks
