I think it may be a regional thing. Baseball caps are the norm here is the US. Flat caps are a bit difficult to find.

Cheers,
Mark

The bigger challenge is keeping the thing on at speed. I have lost many over the years. I now use a small leash. Clips on the back of the cap and the other end clips on your shirt or jacket collar.

Cheers,

Mark

I have a bobble hat with no bobble for winter & baseball cap for sun (though the new sun visors have reduced the need).

I believe they are called 'Newsboy' caps over the pond.

On the subject of hats

There is a very good photo of HFC Morgan driving a 3 wheeler sporting a rather fine 'bowler' or 'Coke' (pronounced cook) hat in the Morgan Museum

Interestingly, long before the British businessmen adopted the bowler in the city, the 'Bowler' or 'Derby' as it was called in The States, was the fashionable and essential headwear of the American West.

Its a pity that the baseball cap has become so ubiquitous

My brother just bought his first sports car, sadly not a Morgan but I did try, I have just bought him one of these cap savers as mine has saved mine a few times. £4.95 on eBay under sailing accessories.

Don't know why that should be the case. My flat caps stay on at 150 kph (93 mph). Up to 130 kph or more even my leather Australian hat stays in place. Even though I am 6 ft tall it is all in my legs and sitting I probably seem about 4 inches shorter so it probably has something to do with the level of the head in the car.
