And that's another thing, modified Mogs are not despised as are other modified Marques, although I'm sure they must be sympathetic mods!

My Morgan leaks a bit, mainly spits and spots finding their way past the side screens.

Fortunately I was born equipped to deal with such trifles, Human skin is absolutely 100% waterproof.

No it's not mine. Borghi did it for a customer who purchased a Plus 4 GDI. They have a person who does the dash woodwork for them and at the same time re-covers the Moto-Lita steering wheel to match.

Welcome to TM.
Current Morgan's are built to a much higher standard than they used to be but they are hand built and you should be prepared for a few niggles initially until everything has settled down. Nothing serious just odd faults that can be annoying but can all be sorted.
My current car is the most waterproof Morgan I have owned with the fitting of the hood and side screens being excellent. One mod I would recommend is to have the side screen inner panels trimmed in leather as this will cut out drafts and, in the rain, covers the gap where water rises up from the outside of the door and then drips down inside.
The mechanicals are pretty bullet proof. The GDI is Euro 6 compliant, gearbox is Mazda MX5, and the drivetrain is well proven so you shouldn't expect any more problems than any other new car. I also wouldn't worry about greasing the kingpins on a European tour. Whilst much is made of the need to grease them every 1,000 miles they don't self destruct if one of your holiday trips exceeds that.
The speedo is a pain but as has been said you can easily swap it round with the Rev counter if you wish, or go for a custom dash.
Enjoy your test drive and try and do as many miles as you can to get a feel for the car. You will probably know when you get back whether the car is for you or not.

Welcome Ian.

Part of owning a Morgan is all the tweaks that can be made...many listed above!

Welcome to the forum

Love the gunmetal/ mulberry colour scheme but just about every colour combination looks great on a Morgan because it's ....... er......er.........It's a Morgan !

trad morgans leak in heavy rain and can't be compared to the Spitfire for lots of reasons - it's like comparing a Sopwith Camel to an Avro 720

Spitfire - 1960's design, no removable side screens and designed for mass production using contemporary car engineering (300,000 made in only a decade or so)

Trad 4 wheel Morgan - designed in 1930's, removable side screens, low volume hand made using trad coach building methods which are more contemporaneous of the early 1900's

Water ingress when driving in heavy rain all adds to the fun. You become almost euphoric when it stops raining and adds to the adventure

And nothing that a good warm cup of tea can't solve anyway

Enjoy and have fun
