L - Learner Plates On
I've been busy

Weather wasn't nice and I had some free time. What's better then as to play in the garage.
So much work only to get a little piece of plastic sheet.
Can you guess what comes next?

My guess: a) change the odometer illumination to another color, or b) change the color of the scales from black to ivory

Guys,

changing the colour of the backlights is a nice and new idea, never liked the blue, but that is beyond my skills.
I removed the dash only to make a scan-copy of the speedo dial. Now I can look for a company to prepare me a custom made version in a more classic and English style. That means, I have do do the same again, once I have the dial here. smile

All part of the fun of owning a Morgan.

Regards

Surely changing the back lighting is just a matter of changing the LEDs?????

The backlight is made with about 15-20 SMD-LED's.
I'm sure they can be changed and have seen that with other cars.
But then I would have to send the unit to a specialist to do this.
Maybe something for the next winter?

For now, spring is comming and I want to keep the car on the road.

Whilst I am not 100% certain, I believe the dash colour can already be set to a myriad of colours using the LEDs that are already present. The dash is from the current Ford Mustang and most Fords (including the Mustang) allow the interior lighting, dash included, to be tailored by the driver via the options menu in the dash.

As the Morgan uses a cut down version of the system, I imagine they removed a lot of those options (perhaps part of the CanBus?). The frustration is that all the hardware is probably in place but the software is lacking.

I look forward to seeing the end result of your project.
