Steve,
a great example... The wheels and radiator grill should colour match the leather, I understand. The quetion is "is green leather an original colour?" It needs an expert to answer.

Who cares? Originality goes out of the door the moment you stick a badge on or change a tyre, so don't fret too much about originality. That's what museums are for.
You're already very lucky to have owned a Morgan, and to swap that for such a british icon as the TC is one of life's more fortunate events. You go drive, polish & enjoy.

Yup, that MG is a beauty. Keep it just as it is, drive it, and enjoy it.

I was responsible for the issue of historic club registration for our club in NSW. I took the attitude that a vehicle (bike or car) fitted with period modifications was ok as a snapshot in time or the way it was used when it was near new. I went to a meeting, together with representatives of other clubs, with the Roads and Transport Authority to discuss new rules. It turned out one club had refused to issue plates to a hearse because it was based on a Ford but was not original (a strict interpretation of the rules at that time). It had been modified from new in Australia after being imported from America. My argument was that it should have historic plates because it had always been a hearse from the moment it was first registered. Most of the other club reps did not agree with me (w@nkers). In the end the RTA gave the club concerned approval to issue the plates.

Thank you.. And Dave, yes saw the register site and had a very useful telephone conversation with a helpful registrar who confirmed the TC's original factory spec of black with green interior, it's matching numbers and that it went to the states originally in June 1946. Should know more when it arrives here.. Interesting stuff.

Believe me I recognise the constraints of a single garage. In mine is (currently) my 4/4, a motorcycle, my lathe and tool boxes, 3 cycles, and racks of spares and Lord else knows what... I'm always mindful of stuff falling on my bonnet! But then again a single garage is better than no garage at all.. Be nice to at least be able to work on the car inside though...
