Why not to drive a big fat Benz when AC is the thing to have? The future of MSCC .... Mercedes Sport Car Club? He does. Err..no I don't. That belongs to I have an incredibly worthy but tedious BMW 320. Less exciting than.... Almost anything. We are so miles apart you and me.....you like Aeros, I like Trads, you find BMW 320s tedious, I rather enjoyed mine.

It would be so sad if we all liked the same thing! Variety is what makes it all fun.

I have to agree with you. OK a modern morgan might have a heated screen so demisting by aircon isnt such an issue, but on the few really hot days we get a long journey without hood becomes painful as with one. So when its really warm I use the aircon in the Lotus to blow cold air onto me even with the roof off.
I guess it might be a bit different in a morgan because it is a proper convertible whilst my lotus is a sort of targa top with less air blowing around. Nevertheless, IMO aircon in a sports car is great.
One of the reasons why convertibles have traditionally sold better here than elsewhere in europe is because of our climate. Open cars arent much fun in 30C or more.

My wife and I are no fans of aircon it seems to hit us both right in the chest, however i do admit to putting it on now and again to cool our Westie down in the footwell .....

One of the reasons why convertibles have traditionally sold better here than elsewhere in europe is because of our climate. Open cars arent much fun in 30C or more. We do the same thing in our Morgan, which has aircon. If the sun gets really unbearably hot we put the top up too. We often get temperatures in the high 30s with a very high humidity in summer. The only problem with the Morgan air vents is that they are located only in the foot well. You get most of the cold air on the side nearest the centre of the car and none on your upper torso. Still it is better than nothing. I won't even mention the problem of a wet, sweaty, shirt back against the leather seat back.

Peter,
You are right, A/C has its uses.
The Plus 8 doesn't appear to dump as much heat into the cockpit as the Roadster did and the heater boc has 3 vents that blow into the cockpit and two that blow into the footwell.
Question: is the hood safe to use without sidescreens?

Frequently run the 4/4 in this configuration with no issues. Mind you it is just the "poverty model"
