Help guys
I am going insane
The old girl has developed an new and infuriating rattle.
After hitting any kind of bump in the road I get a rattle from the passages side and behind the seat. Sounds like a lose washer jumping up and down on the metal floor. Have tried everything. Stripped out the seats, searched high and low; nothing.
Any ideas
Off to dealer later today

A possible source for rattling may be the fuel pump(?) and hosings on the very top of the rear end, close to the outlet of the safety belts.
I dismanteld the cover yesterday and put pieces of sponge (foam material) around the hoses and the upper cylindric unit. Much better now.

There is, what I suspect is a non return valve ((NRV )in the fuel system. It is on a little wobbly bracket, held with one screw to the wooden frame behind the passenger. If you flick it with your finger it rattles. Mine does. I posted a video of it on here some time ago but no one else had an issue.
Perhaps this is your problem. It did take me a while to locate it as it sounds more serious. The video is still on my blog if it helps.

Good luck

Does it rattle with a passenger? If so, take someone with good ears and mechanical abilities for a ride. It's very difficult pin-pointing the source of a noise and concentrating on driving as well.

The trouble is Martyn, everything shakes less WITH a passenger. My particular noise only became apparant when I was on my own. Its funny that a car so noisy can still have irritating rattles...

Could be rear boot has settled on the rubber and started rattling?

That happened to me - a short length of sticky back rubber positioned where the boot lid closes sorted it for me.
