Harald – A very neat elegant solution. Brilliant work and good luck with it. My original thought was to try and install a small secondary compression springs (similar to rebound springs) to assist the main spring at the end of its movement and improve comfort. There’s a little space envelope just forward of the axle where something could possibly be squeezed in and using the hoop to take the loads. I played around with a couple of ideas. I got as far as installing and trying PU springs but they were too stiff and did not feel right. At that point I tried a new set of leaf springs which made a significant difference. I thought my problem had gone but I found the suspension would still very occasionally bottom particularly when carrying luggage. However for now these little progressive bump stops appear to offer just enough control to solve my issue. are coming from an engineering background ? I guess my spilling and gramer gave it away Rog , where did you get your new springs from , were they the new mulfab ones ?

Yes they were Mulfab and very pleased with them. They appear to have a good source. My rear ride height is much improved. They settled a few mm in the first couple of days but the height appears not to have changed since. I’ve done around 4k to 5k with them now. Also Mulfab are very helpful and take time to talk you through these jobs.

Received a PM yesterday re-requesting the images that were removed by Photobucket from the old post below. Rog , any pics of these bump stops ! Hope this helps. Obviously I would not advise anybody to copy this or modify their vehicle in any away. I have modified my vehicle at my own risk and notified my insurers. Here's my original sketch. Beware all trads are different, these dimensions worked for me and obviously each side is handed. New images courtesy of Dropbox.

Great picture of a very nice looking suspension which looks very straightforward , very different to the underneath of the BMW z4mc !
