Most of us might aspire to your solution as being a super job , but my lurker friend John from Oz commented the following:

This came up on your site.

There’s a much simpler way. An angle bracket from the local hardware store, one arm of which is bolted to the chassis upright.
A 5/16” hole is drilled through the U-bolt base to take the top stud of the bobbin. The nut will slot neatly into the slot in the base, sometimes with s slight trimming of two opposite flats (some bases may already have this hole. The bobbin is screwed in (no locking washer needed) and the stud trimmed off if needed. Hole drilled in the selected location in the vertical arm of the angle bracket.

Sorry it’s rotten.I haven’t bothered straightening it up to make it look neater - too many other things to do.I did the Series 1 like this almost 30 years ago and have replaced the bobbin once since. There’s another mounting just in front of the muffler - I use the muffler clamp here in the same way.

It's another way of doing it, but at the time my Roadster was less than three years old, and the brackets shown are the MMC brackets in use at that time and still in use now.
And so there was no reason to modify the arrangement!
