On a motorcycle, prockets and chains are definately a consumable but if Morgan thinks otherwise that is a plus.

It's not a chain driven vehicle. It's a belt driven vehicle. Sprockets on a beltdriven motorcycle is not something that is a consumable.

I shouldn't have read the warranty, my fault. I'll argue the case when the time comes. There is one hell of a variation in milages and how owners are treated. The belts are not covered under warranty. However, the sprockets are not specifically listed. I'm guessing if the mileage is stupidly low Its deemed valid claim and done on a case by case basis.

Yes, yes, I wasn't disagreeing. I think a rear sprocket for belt-driven vehicle should last a very long time. And it will, if made from proper materials.

I think it is done on a case by case basis , I feel sorry for the dealers stuck in the middle and people around the world with little dealer support . I think I was probably lucky to get mine under warranty at 4000 mules .
Morgan policy seems to be to try and get customers to pay for any upgrades even when known inadequate parts are being replaced . It is difficult to negotiate with them when doing things via a dealer , and despite promises it still seems people have problems getting replies from the factory .
The most difficult thing for me to understand is why they kept (keep?) building cars with parts that are not fit for purpose , maybe they hope most mileages will be low enough for things to last through the warranty period .
I wonder if new cars are still getting the too short fuel gauge senders ...

I am sure that there are a lot of owners who do very few miles in their M3W's, and have less chance for them to break. There seem to be several cars advertised for sale that are a couple of years old with only hundreds of miles on them rather than thousands. Maybe they have been stuck at the dealers getting warranty work done for much of that time? It surprises me how few owners look on this forum and are quite unaware of several well documented M3W problems. One owner at the MTWC meeting at Combe Mill recently had his cracked chassis pointed out to him (the usual front suspension place), something I would think all TM readers would be aware of and check occasionally. With a car like this you cannot trust that everything will run well for a year or be picked up on an annual service, can you?

It is, potentially, a very serious matter, and if I were the Director of a company making a product with the potential to be life threatening, I would be very worried, very worried indeed.
How the board and the shareholders are able to ignore this, especially in today's litigious climate, I fail to understand. Is it really all about profit, and if the answer is 'yes' then surely it is still better to make the product right in the first place, rather than continue making it wrongly, even after it has been proven wrong, and then to have to spend money rectifying it later?
