For a modern engine running a tank of super unleaded every 3 or 4 tanks of regular fuel helps to keep valves, injectors and so on clean, so it is said.
I find no difference in performance so buy Shell, BP or Esso regular fuel. I do not buy Supermarket fuel.

Most regular branded fuel nowadays has around 4% Ethanol I believe, horrid stuff, even for cars supposedly built ethanol tolerate after 2011. I use higher Octane in the Morgan and Cooper S and yes it 10p a litre more but find I get better mpg around 10% and it actually works out slightly cheaper, non branded is worse for ethanol content and often will have few if any additives for cleaning.

Fill a can with Super, and a can with ordinary. Spill a small puddle of each on concrete, and light!
The Super will burn noticeably differently, a lot more uniformly, and faster. Whether your engine is bothered though I could not say.

As for fuel, my local Shell usually matches the Tesco in Watford and can be the cheapest non supermarket fuel in the country. But it a bit of a bun fight unless you fill up at weird times. I do, but living 5 minutes away, hardly a problem.

I must admit I always go for Super Unleaded , I like to think I am giving it a 'treat'

The S&S people as well as all bikers I know go for the highest octane rating possible, shy of aviation fuel, which almost costs twice as much!
What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

Aviation fuel is either Jet-fuel (i.e. kerosene) or AV-gas (i.e. leaded petrol). At least those are the two aviation fuels I see.

Yup, that's why I mentioned it Edit: And Jet fuel is basically kerosene, and therefore in the same category as diesel. It too will kill an S&S V-twin fast.
