Just organised for a new set of tyres for the Aero sounds daft but I actually didn't know that they are 225/40/18 on the front and 245/40/18 on the rear. After much deliberation i've gone for the Avon ZZ5's which are the replacement for the ZZ3's. The company I have selected after some searching is "Event mobile tyres". They come to your door and fit them. That means i can keep my eye on them during the fitting Now you would expect a premium cost spend with such a service but not so. For the Four tyres £427.00 fitted inc balance and old tyre disposal. grin2

I've been a huge fan of Avon since the 1960s. The Plus 8 has the same differing sizes front and rear, but on 19" wheels and 35% profile.

The only problem I have with ZZ5 is that they look "normal". I love the look of the ZZ3s...

Oh well, progress....

Your wings look a little different to mine Peter.... mine are cut away very slightly on the bottom of the outer leading edges.

Or maybe it's just the angle of the photo.

Peter, your right of course I'm not a fan of the ZZ5's look either I much prefer the aggressive look of the ZZ3's as you say "Progress" laugh2

OE was 225's all round but many owners put 245's on the rear.

No - OE on an S3 at least is 225 front and 245 rear.

I was on ZZ3s but have been on ZZ5s for about a year. ZZ5s significantly better, especially rear end grip and are very quiet too. ZZ5s still look pretty whacky although tread pattern totally different to ZZ3...

Both ZZ3 and ZZ5 were very good in the wet - huge confidence even though I avoid the wet!

Glad to hear the new ZZ5's have been a success although the ZZ3's had more visual appeal ... fact is if you get better grip and a their quiet the practicality's win hands down.
