I found a photo in Worrall's book showing a '71 Kent engine with the same type of intake manifold that I have on my car. It has Jubilee type clamps. That will have to be my reference to the judges that think that they know it all. It still might be wrong but now they will have to prove me wrong. John Worrall is rarely wrong when it comes to Morgans.

The next question....stainless or zinc plated? Is the latter more period correct?
I'm not really into Concours although I do admire what owners do to their cars to compete, but is the intention to produce a "perfect" car or one that is exactly as came out of the factory?

This may help but put a nose or two out.
The term Concours d'El'egance which appears now to have anglicized, dictates in itself the general principles which need to be followed in connection with judging .
A Concours d'Ele'gancce is, literally translated, a competition of elegance, in which connection it is necessary to remember that the word 'Elegance' is defined as follows: "Polished; refined; pleasing to good taste ; graceful; well-formed in its parts , proportions and distribution; beautiful in form and in colour; that which pleases by its nicety, symmetry, purity or beauty".
'Thus in Concours d'El'egance the marking clearly should be based principally upon beauty and harmony of the lines and colour scheme. Next could come symmetry , good taste and utility of the interior arrangements and fittings ; next the comfort afforded to the occupants , bearing in mind such important matters as adjustability of seats , range of vision afforded , control of ventilation , and in case of open cars , efficiency and ease of erection of the all weather equipment . Cleanliness, in , either of the bodywork or of the chassis and engine should not be regarded as a matter of special importance . The work of cleaning the remote chassis parts to "showroom" standards is so extremely laborious as automatically to restrict enteries , whilst cleanliness even of the bodywork should be obviously subsidiary to the various characteristics which have been outlined above'.
Judges today have wandered away from the true concours d'el'egance.

According to their web site:-
"JubileeŽ Clips were manufactured as the first worm drive hose clamp in 1921, the company held the first patent for worm drive hose clips and has been manufacturing hose clips in Great Britain ever since. The name JubileeŽ Clip remains a registered trademark throughout the world."
So they were well known in 1970 and could have been used on your car.

Hope this helps you out. All very true, JTL, but the competition might have been a Concours d'Etat, could it not? In which case the originality aspects would have been favoured much more highly over the 'Elegance' aspects, would they not?

It is next to impossible to find correct Jubilee clamps here in the US. I was in England last fall touring what is left of the MG works (which is nothing anymore) and while walking through a local hardware store I came across a Jubilee display with all sorts of sizes of what I think were zinc plated clamps. Had I known I would have Morgan at that time I would have bought up their stock to use here. Oh well. I think that they would be more period correct (zinc type). I'm not trying to make the car a concours car like my TD, but some things are easy to change to make it more like it came from the factory. It's fun for me to do the research and make the changes. The research is half of the fun for me on the little toys. For this reason, I'll probably be a pest on this forum. Bear with me please.
