I enjoyed it - but agree it reminded me throughout of our little company in Malvern!

I am not sure about Mark Evans - but he is ok I suppose??

I love the car ...and thought Lord Marshs comment priggish and not correct!

Mmm. I think there may be some double standards at play here by Lord March & Co as regards "replicas". Unless I'm mistaken I seem to recall that the Lancia D50 F1 car (which is a replica) has appeared at Goodwood. I bet if one of his Goodwood regulars such as Nick Mason or Mr Bamford bought one and wanted to run it that he's soon change his tune.

As with the Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato sanction 2 models, I don't see that there's too much of an issue so long as the cars aren't passed off as something they're not. From a spectator's point of view, if the original ones have now reached such stupidly high prices that hardly any of their owners dare take them out on the track, we may be more likely to see these recreations being given a proper thrashing if they are allowed to participate.

As to the TV show, I sort of enjoyed it. Good to see that those sort of skills still exist at Jaguar, and that the company does value it's heritage.

The world of historic racing cars is a minefield and at least the six new cars are a known quantity.

Now if Jaguar were to build a "continuation" XKSS I'd have one in a flash.

Anyone got a spare million they want to donate ? wink

Perhaps collectively on TM we could buy one? At £1m with 4,199 members on here it would only cost us £238.15 each to buy and we can all take it out! drive

I dont know how much cmc charged you for your mph jaguar special, or indeed how much Brian paid Morgan for the sp1, but I suspect they both seem like excellent value in comparison to those jags.

There are some excellent replicas to be had.
I saw many whilst looking in the Kit world.
Not cheap but just about affordable, unlike the originals.
You can even buy a Vanwall with updated mechanicals..... love
I have no issues with a car being a replica provided it is done properly, with sensible upgrades to bring it to today's standards.

Indeed. The argentinian Pur Sang Bugatti T35 replicas are amazing, built in exactly the same way as the originals, and about 10% of the price of a real one.

I still have the bumph for those HMC Healey cars, which is the closest I got to having one but on the odd occasion that I see one advertised I do wonder.

What amused me last weekend at the "La Vie en Bleu" event at Prescott, were the Teal "Bugatti" replicas driving up the hill......brave of them to appear at the home of the Bugatti Club.
I believe they use a number of Morris Marina components but they actually sounded pretty good although not quite to Bugatti standard!
