I used to drive the 57SC Gangloff Coupé sometimes. Whereas it is a stunningly beautiful car to look at, it was rather disappointing to drive. It is supposed to have 200BHP and if so, they must be miniature shetland ponies. The steering is very heavy and the whole car is just a bit disappointing to drive. For a supercharged 3.3L car, the power is surprisingly peaky. In comparison to say a Zagato bodied Alfa 8C2600, which I also get to drive from time to time, the Alfa feels light years ahead in both performance and driving pleasure.

Very interesting Wilson... I've owned a couple of vintage Astons and the dream was better than the reality - but it seems like sacrilege to say it.
A car I'd like to own would be a pre '66 (ish) Ferrari, but I don't quite have the liquid funds to slap down on a 250SWB! Nicer to have the dream I suspect.
I'd like the Jag special that Michael Hughes had too.
It is on the road since 2006 and can be seen on some classic car meetings around here. As far as I understood, the coach builders have done very thorough research with respect to the details of the car and the result, in reality, looks very impressive.
There was a series on one of the Sky channels showing the restoration company who did the work. The Bugatti popped up over several episodes as it was progressing. The car was stunning. The attention to detail awesome and if I remember correctly they had to use photographs to get many dimensions as no details were available re drawings etc..
Nicer to have the dream I suspect.
